Safety regulations

Safety first at Lont & Co. So below you can find some safety regulations.

  • Never, ever, leave a candle burning unattended.
  • Keep burning candles away from children and/or pets.
  • Never burn a candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
  • Always place the candle on a heat-resistant surface. Make sure the candle dish or tray you use is large enough so it can catch melted wax from the freestanding candles.
  • Always place the candle in a well-ventilated area.
  • Do not move a burning candle. The glasses and jars can get very hot.
  • Extinguish the candle if it is smoking, the flame is too high, or if you think the flame is too close to the edge of the glass. Preferably do this with a candle cover so there can be no splashing of candle wax.
  • When burning multiple candles, place them at least 10cm apart.
  • It is important, before lighting the candle, to trim the wick a bit. The cotton wicks can be cut to 0.5 - 1 cm. The wooden wicks are best broken off as low as possible with your fingers. Make sure you remove the broken pieces from the pot before lighting the candle. And wash your hand afterwards 😉

Lont & Co also uses icons that indicate how to handle candles safely. The following overview shows all icons and their meanings:
